A MINISTRY FOR FOSTER CHILDREN AND THEIR CAREGIVERS
"I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you"
(John 14:18)

Ready or Not
This devotional study is a 6-week commitment that will walk you through the various ramifications of a decision to embrace this community of children and will encourage a thorough investigation of your expectations. At the conclusion of this study, we hope you will be able to determine whether adoption, foster care, or simply helping others in the foster/adoption community would be a good fit for your family at this time.

our story
After our two oldest sons successfully transitioned to adult life, we began fostering a 3 year old who we subsequently adopted.
Our son had been severely neglected and arrived with a vocabulary of around ten words, half of which were Spanish. He was not potty trained and arrived with few possessions. We had tried to prepare for his arrival but we were not able to meet the needs of this little boy.
Our church family helped us overcome the challenges of providing for our little boy. The process opened our eyes to the plight of at risk children as well as to the families that take them in. It has also stirred in us, a passion for foster and adoptive families. We started The Advocate to provide a community of love and support to foster and adoptive families just as our church family provided to us.
